Un petit rant..

Bleurgh.

Is anyone else sick of seeing celebrities in fashion campaigns?
...Katie Holmes for Miu Miu, Victoria Beckham for Armani, Rihanna for Gucci, Madonna for Louis Vuitton, and the list goes on..

What about all the poor lovely models out there? Surely they must know how to pose and take fashion forward photos more than these celebs. I mean granted, some of these ads are fine. I like the Marion Cotillard one for Dior, as well as the emergance of old skool supermodels such as Naomi Campbell for YSL and Claudia Schiffer for Dolce and Gabanna and Dior.

I don't know if it's just me who thinks this but I wasn't the biggest fan of the way the ads turned out for the people I mentioned in the beginning. I didn't think the photos particularly grabbed my attention in any way, or made the garnments look extra special.

Point is.. I'd like to see new upcoming talented supermodels as opposed to random celebs in my magazines.

Rant is over.
Fin.

I don't like this one bit.

YES! I'm so glad you've posted this - I feel the exact same way. Those celebrities just ruin the brand experience for me. Madonna yet again showing her 8000 year old fanny does not make me want to buy Louis Vuitton. Like Wendy's said - BRING BACK MODELS!

Great post as always, LJ!

I am not a big fan of any of these campaigns. I kinda liked the Kirstin Dunst Miu Miu ads and as for Madonna...scary. I am petrified of her!

I agree for the most part. Did love Eva Green for Dior though.

I feel like Miu Miu has a really spotty record for choosing celebrity faces. As beautiful as Katie Holmes is, I have to agree with NY Mag's assessment that she looks "repressed" in her shots. And don't even get me started on back when miu miu was using lindsay lohan and kirsten dunst- just UGH.

You know, this is a really good point. I haven't thought of it before, but models used to be on the covers of magazines and then celebs took over. Now they're filling the pages inside too...it's a downward spiral if you ask me! What's next, celebs on the runways instead of the front rows???
