Don't Shoot

In all honesty, I don't care about football.
We, at SaveOurShoes, do care about people. My friend Rav was wearing a brilliant tshirt yesterday. It was a slogan tshirt, spreading the message "Don't Shoot". It was designed by Katharine Hamnett for IANSA to have a Gun-Free World Cup. I think it's pretty brilliant.

How do you feel about tshirts with a message? Do you care about the football?

PS We still love you guys.

To pack or not to pack some Nicholas King

Do you ever pack for a trip and fear that something you own may be considered dangerous by airport security. I am always anxious of wearing brooches or pins in case they get confiscated.

Same could be said for my uber-neon-crown-tastic Nicholas King bracelets. I purchased them at a Push PR event in ECONE, around Exmouth market. Frankie and Alex helped me pick them out.

There were serious discussions in my house before I left as to whether or not I should take them onto the flight. Would they be mistaken for large neon weapons or pieces of plastic-fantastic?? A risk I was not willing to make.

GFW: Sharee David

I love a challenge. These shoes would be a challenge to run for a tube in.
Photobucket

The shape of these shoes is amazing.
Photobucket

I spotted them at GFW and instantly fell for them. They wouldn't look out of place in a Gaga video. They were made by a very talented Sharee David.

GFW: Kitty Keay

I was never one for pastels.
But check out the movement in this pastel piece.
Photobucket
I want to dance in this. I fell in love with this when I saw it at Graduate Fashion Week and after further investigation, I am head over heels with this stuff.

Kitty Keay is a fashion and textile design student from Colchester School of Art and Design. Check out more about her project and the image below right here.

Deservedly, Kitty won the Mulberry Accessories prize. I can't wait to see what she produces in the future.
Peace y'all, fi xx

What shall we do with a drunken sailor...

A few weeks back, I got some interesting post.. A message in a bottle (this is not a Sting quote). It was from Aussie Shampoo inviting me to a party. Best.Post.Ever.
Photobucket
So last Saturday, I ventured outside of London, to a far away place. Called Birmingham. I loved the tumbling down warehouses against the contrast of the slick Bullring.
While in Brummie, I deposited my bags in our slick hotel and met up with some of my nearest and dearest friends, Winnie from Diamond Canopy and Emily from My Fashion Life. Winnie is a brilliant tour guide of Birmingham, fyi.
Photobucket
We went to a flea market in the Bird's Custard Factory and ate some tasty cupcakes (token blogger snack of choice). Check out the nice graffiti! Other activities included a bus journey on a quest to deliver a birthday present and lusting after cheapandcheerful vintage gear in Cow Vintage.

The party started at seven in a tiki cocktail bar. The theme for the evening was Naughty Nautical, hence the Sailor Hat. On hand were hair stylists to answer any questions about what to do with dry hair and how to get the smoothest of smooth hair using Aussie products.
Photobucket
To top it all off, there was a cocktail masterclass.
Photobucket
So after some started cocktails, and making two Tom Collins, two Brambles, a Cosmo and some other fancy shot, topped off with a number of penalty shots, my memory gets fuzzy. Pictures can do the talking.

The next morning was not so nice. So instead of showing you a picture of me with a headache, I'll tell you about my outfit.
Photobucket
Jacket: Doesn't matter where I got it, I lost it that night like a fool, Dress: H! by Henry Holland (more on this baby another day), Shoes: Sonia Rykiel for H&M, also check out my Nauti-cool tattoo of an anchor

Doesn't Emily look great!
Thank you Aussie ladies, Emma, Michelle and Siobhan, for such a great night.
Peace y'all fi xx

PS As karma for my drunken sins, it took me 7hours to get home the next day. With a killer headache. And minus a jacket.
PPS Winnie has a great post about our adventures HERE!

Link it up...

Some links to check out...

A week or two ago, I discovered I have a new talent. Writing Mills and Boons novels. The evening was hosted Starbucks Discoveries. It was rather brilliant, with word play games and helpful hints to help with writing. Seriously think I'm wasted doing what I am doing.
There are some great pictures taken by Bitchbuzz right... HERE! My Starbucks discovery drink saved me the next morning after my red wine induced headache.

Supersweet are running a competition to win an amazing dress. Click HERE for deets. If you win, send it to me.

Another competition (and more on this soon) is being held by Motorola to celebrate the launch of their new fancy slick phone. They are looking for a geeky model (my kind of thing.. if I was 6 inches taller and could pose like LJ) to be the face of their "Hip to be square" campaign. More information HERE. And like I said, watch this space for slick phone bizniz.

My-Wardrobe have got a great new "Denim bar" service on their website. Along side this, they had the first ever Denim bar pop-up shop. Check out a great video about this new service and the awesome launch party HERE. It was held in an awesome location and lots of cocktails..

Jackie from Platform Princess had a well covered birthday party by bloggers alike. (Link HERE to a post about it and further links). As did Lucy from Snippets of Shiny thoughts for her amazing blogs first birthday. (Link HERE to a post about it and further links).

Why not check out Made in Wonderland? It supplies Disney Couture. 'Nuff said.

Peace y'all! Fi xx

I play with makeup when I'm bored.

True story. Sometimes I spend hours on end experimenting and playing with makeup. I get so inspired to do so when I watch makeup tutorials on youtube. And my favorite channels are Pixiwoo, Pixi2woo, and Glitterdollz7. I watch these channels obsessively!

Sometimes I google looks that would inspire me to do similar looks, and other times I just do whatever pops in my head. This could turn well, or turn into a disaster. But that's good, cause I learn that way.

Photobucket

Here's the most recent look inspired by Pat McGrath's previous work for Dior. This is just an inspiration and not an exact recreation. And by all means, this is not a 'wearable' 'everyday' look. So, if that's what you're expecting, skip this post!

I'm not sure if I'd like to post video makeup tutorials, but it's just a fleeting idea that may or may not happen. Who here hoots for more makeup posts (products I like, makeup looks etc)? And who here would like makeup tutorials? Speak now!

Least impressed with my camera and it's shoddy work.

All of these will be out in A/W 2010. Join me in the queue for the H! by Henry Holland cape, mmkay?

How far would you go with a jumpsuit?

The jumpsuit 'trend' has been around for quite a while. Being born in the 80's, I know it was 'trendy' then, but it has been creeping up on us slowly the past year or so. So much so, that Primark (Penneys) now has jumpsuit and playsuit pyjamas. True fact. Check them out yourselves.

Jumpsuit pyjamas.. I mean, really? I have to admit, I quite like them. They're very cute, and could potentially be worn outdoors with a little cardigan thrown over it. I do love the onsies, I do. But do I want to sleep in one? I'm not sure. What if you wake up in the middle of the night with a loo situation? The sleepy confused state along with the perception of wearing normal pyjama trousers is a recipe for disaster.

My first jumpsuit was purchased last year from Primark. It's black jersey, and was on sale for 7 euros I believe. 7 euros, that's 2 venti caramel mocchiatos. And it's possibly the most comfortable piece of clothing I own, and I still wear it a lot!

My second jumpsuit (counting out overalls), is this one. It's a beautifully printed cotton jumpsuit I bought from Public Beware on my last trip to London. It is navy blue, black and white printed with what looks to me like orange polka dot splashes. It is sleeveless, ruffled bust, and perfect for this confusing summer weather.

Jumping 'tampon commercial (according to Fi)' shot in Kensington Park.
Jumpsuit from Public Beware, Cardigan from Zara, socks and sunglasses from Primark (Penneys), shoes from F-Troupe, bag from Miu Miu

How do you feel about jumpsuits? Would you wear them to bed?
