von awesome.

This is Catherine.
Photobucket
She plays in a rather awesome band called Von Haze. The other half of the band studded all of her skirt.

Another example of percentage coolness. If I have my fringe in my eyes, I can't function. She, however, is making it work with a 200% increase of looking hot.

Spread the Love(box)

I love music. I also love being nice. Therefore when the lovely ladies from Aussie shampoo asked me to take part in a mission to give people compliments at a festival, I said yes (obz).
So, on Sunday, Reena, Sherin, and I met up with team Aussie Emma and Lisa to tell folks they have awesome hair at Lovebox. Spreading the love(box).
Here are some of my favourite festival hair ladies.
Photobucket
Hot hair and accessories. Total tattoo envy.

Here are my favourite festival hair gents (mostly I thought they were cute). They admitted to using Aussie shampoo and how it smells great.

Photobucket
However, my favourite hair of the whole festival was on Peaches' wheelchair. Charlie leMindu perhaps? Peaches picture from here.

I saw some pretty awesome musicians perform. Check out Silver Collumns, Losers and Crystal Stilts if you get a chance. Old favourites New Young Pony Club, Cut Copy and Chromeo provided me with ample opportunity to dance to my wee heart's content. Festival musi-cool highlights were definitely the *soflippin'awesomeitshardtobreathe* Peaches and the enigmatic Grace Jones. I will never have a bod' like hers. HOT.

Lowlight of the day was my lack of suncream. Rookie festival mistake from a veteran festival attendee.
Photobucket
How cute are we? Top picture, left to right Reena, me, Sherin. Bottom picture, Lisa and Emma.

I did not stand up Grace Jones (as per previous post wardrobe dilemma). In the end I wore this...

Thank you Aussie!
If you are or happen to know anyone in these pictures, leave a comment!
Anyone else at Lovebox? Or any other festival highlights?

Life as a disco..

As I have said before, I like to treat life like a disco. In preparation for disco shenanigans this weekend (Lovebox and the Creators Project) I have been staring at these record players.
Photobucket
Picture from Mixtapes exhibition in the Glucksman gallery, Co. Cork.

Along with this, I will get to see two of the queens of the Disco, Peaches and Grace Jones between the next two days. Both of these ladies would not look out of place behind these glittery decks.

Fashmathetics.. Kandee shoes..

Photobucket
Photobucket
My new item of shoeporn.. Kandee shoes from HERE.

Spotted these beauties at the Push PR Christmas Press day. Is it controversial to say I prefer them to the Topshop/Louise Goldin ones? ('Cause I kinda do.)
Other images from here, here, and here

Peace, fi xx

PS. Helpful hint.. The lovely Miggy has got a competition which ends today (July 14th) to win a pair of Kandee shoes. They are not my size. Therefore I have no problem telling you this. Check it HERE.

London, Food, and Fashion Daydreams.

So this is almost 2 months old, but since I've been blogger inactive, I thought I'd share this with you now anyway.

It started with an early morning waking, followed by a rummage through my little handbag to figure out what to wear. The weather was very confusing you see. Hence, the little confusing outfit. You can't tell what season it's worn for.

Outta the house we go! We headed to our favorite breakfast place in London The Luxe. If you haven't gone, GO. Delicious brunch foodies include blueberry pancakes, greek yoghurt with fresh fruit and honey, hash browns and all their eggs. No, they are not paying me to say this. And it's also in Spitalfield Market, and it's always fun to have a little nose at the stalls there!

Photobucket
Luxe's delicious blueberry pancakes

Then we went to the west end, and hung out around Marble Arch, Oxford Circus and Soho area. Our day pretty much consisted of one feeding session after another. We had the loveliest tea in Yumchaa. Another place you need to go to if you're a tea person. Everytime I go there, I stock up on my green tea, white tea, and black tea. If you're ever there, I recommend Mango Sunshine, Caramel Sweetheart, Regent Park, Jasmine, Blueberry Hill, and Raspberry Vanilla. The caramel sweetheart is loose black tea with little white chocolate heart and caramel toffee mini cubes. Enough said.

We then met up with Reena from Fashion Daydreams, and had a quick thai lunch in the new Busaba branch in Leicester Square. SO DELICIOUS. I think it was at that point that i started looking food pregnant. At Busaba, I would recommend Yam Pak, Pad Thai Jay, the Chicken Satay, Muslim Curry, Jungle Curry, and Asparagus fried rice. Right after lunch, I introduced the lovely Blogger to my favorite red lipstick, Russian Red by MAC.

Busy eating at Busaba (EDIT: This is at Luxe!)

Photobucket
Outside Busaba. I'm wearing: black top with leather roses from La Vie En Rose at Sunday Upmarket, leather shorts from ASOS, tights from Henry Holland, Coat from Camden Market, Bag from Miu Miu

Where next? More food. So we went for some fro-yo at Snog in Soho, and of course Hummingbird Bakery for some nom nom cupcakes.

Photobucket
Snog frozen yogurt. Eat your heart out Pinkberry.

The sun came out, so we trotted to Soho Square for some bench action. Reena was being hurassed by pigeons, and I think she almost chipped a tooth while biting a Rocky Road bar.

Photobucket
At Soho Square, I love Hummingbird Bakery's packaging!

Then we decided to go to the Tate Modern for some art support. It was way too busy. But it was fun nevertheless.

Tube. Home. End.

Boys, girls, whatever.

Photobucket

My friend Jeff is sporting his own tshirt, jeans and beautiful sheep lined denim waistcoat. He also looks beautiful wearing my H&M snood, and my ‘blanket jacket’ from Camden Lock that’s accessorized with portrait badges from Camden Lock and Sunday Upmarket.

I stand next to him wearing Jeff’s covetable vintage knitted oversides cardi, and Fi’s grey faux fur scarf. I don’t look as beautiful as Jeff, but I sure wanted to steal his cardi. Notice my huge grin.. YES, I know I look ridonculous.

I love the androgynous look. I love power suits, clean lines, big shoulders (or shoulder pads) and a little waist. I also, love brogues. I basically love men’s looks and men’s clothes. I said love way too many times here.

It’s one thing working an androgynous look, and another thing wearing men’s clothing. I would love to be able to say, oh I borrowed this from a guy friend. But unfortunately, most guys I know are at the end spectrum of either skinny or big. For example, if I were to borrow my brothers tshirt, I’d be swimming in it.

If I were to trot myself into Topman, I know for a fact that non of their bottoms would fit me, with my huge ass. I like the idea of Boyfriend jeans. And I do have 2 pairs from All Saints, bought from the women’s department, which I rarely wear. I'd just like to know where else could I go?

So here are a few questions for you lady readers. Do you shop at men’s sections? And if so, where? Which men’s shops do the best ‘cuts’ or ‘fits’ for women?

And for all you men readers, do you shop in women’s sections? And if so, which women’s shops do the best ‘cuts’ or ‘fits’ for men?

xx- LJ

PS. Jeff, along with 5 other boys are good friends of ours and are in the band Phosphorescent. Their tour van along with all their music equipment was stolen last night after an amazing first day of tour. Losses are estimated to be about 40,000 dollars.. AWFUL stuff. Please help out by donating to Paypal here.

There are also cash rewards for any known information and for returning the gear. More information here and here.

UPDATE: Phossy's gear was found!!!!

Spex Appeal- Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award

Photobucket

I know, I am ADORABLE with glasses. If only my lazy eye hadn't been corrected, I could enter the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards 2010, which is sponsored by Kidscape (tackling bullying amongst children)

Would you like to enter? Click on the link here. You could win a contract with Storm Modeling agency and a holiday to Barbados. Not too shabby. It's open to people from all over Europe. Competition closes July 31st.

I love Things We Love

FYI is there is some nudity in this post (it is a paper doll though).

Great thing about London is when you try to find one thing, you tend to stumble across something else. Whilst en route to see the amazingly hilarious Modern Toss exhibition "Modern Toss Museum of Urban Shit-Naks" (a must-see) I had a peek at a gallery exhibition a few doors up. What attracted me mainly was the the paper dress-up dolls wearing paper versions of dresses I would like to own in the window.
Photobucket
The exhibition was hosted by the website Things We Love, which showcases artists of all kinds, from illustration to fashion. I seriously lusted after the paper dolls, who were all familiar faces, (check out Agy, Cheryl, Kate and Lily, and some other models I should probably know the name of) wearing iconic outfits (again I should probably know the name of who made them).

Made by Mel Elliot, I am wishlisting these.
Photobucket

Other items of lustworthy note, was the "time for tea" jewellery designed by Katy Nicola Molony.
Photobucket

Not only was the art amazing, the people behind it are absolutely lovely. They were so helpful and friendly, something you might not always find at an art exhibition around Shoreditch.
As the title says, I love Things we love.

Percentage coolness.

I frequently use percentages to emphasise how much better my life would be if I was something else.
EXAMPLE
I would be 75% more awesome if I was half-Finnish.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE
My life would be 500% better if I was as hot/talented/awesome as Karen Elson.
Case in point: the following images from American Vogue June 2010, shot by Annie Liebowitz.
