Brooklyn flea..

I went on a trip with my friends yesterday to Brooklyn flea market. I've been looking forward to it for so long as I've read great reviews. So here are some photos!

There were plenty plenty of clothes, left right and centre! Vintage, handmade, old, new, etc. Unfortunately, I did not buy anything as I've just spent a lot of money on rent. Boo hoo for LJ. Though I did try on that lego colored sequined jacket, very MIA/JCDC. Damn you money saving plan.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Osborn shoes were definitely one of my favorite vendors. I've looked at their website a months ago , but the shoes are much more beautiful in the flesh. I need to get myself a pair at some point.

There were so many good furniture and home accessories finds. I was planning to buy something special for my new place. But then I realized that a trip to IKEA should occur first before I fill my teeny little space with accessories. My favorite pieces by far were the two sad looking kids portraits in the last photo. I hope they're still there the next time I visit.

Then there was the miscellaneous category.. Junk, toys, photos, and things you never thought you'd come across.. like a toy gorilla head. Interesting. Or neon doggie figurines..interesting.

Photobucket
And there were so many dogs! I love them so much. I said hello to pretty much every one of them.

Photobucket

Photobucket
In the first photo is one of my friends, hard at work at Asia Dog! It's probably one of the best hot dogs I've ever tasted. I suggest you try The Mash. SO GOOD. Also if you are ever here, I suggest you try the Maine Lobster Sandwich at The Red Hook Lobster Pound. It's 15 bucks for a little sandwich, but it is well worth it. I'd eat it for breakfast.

Photobucket
Say hello to Mr Softie, who lives in the ice cream van. He's my favorite NY character.

Photobucket

Photobucket
And this is what I wore.. Top from La vie en rose at Sunday Upmarket in London, floral trousers from Zara, plastic shoes from F-Troupe, sunglasses from Beyond Retro in London, bag from Miu Miu

What's your favorite market? Have you been to Brooklyn flea before?

Post-yard sale comedown.

Moving house at the moment, hence quiet Fi. Bloggers remorse is setting in, but will just have to struggle on.

On the plus how brilliant was the yard sale? Did you hear? You can see some great pics/posts/info about how much of a success the whole thing was on lots of lovely blogs.
Like...
If you have a yard sale post, holla and I'll link it up, I'm just up the walls a bit.

My do-gooder yard sale raffle was a mega success. HUGE thanks to Supersweet and Pants to Poverty for donating awesome prizes. HOWEVER, I am having major difficulties contacting the overall winner of the SuperSweet top... So if the person who has pink ticket number 34 could email us at SOS? I keep get delivery failure for the email address I had on their raffle ticket.
Otherwise, I will repick a winner from the raffle entrants on Monday.
So if you entered, there is still a chance to win, (unless ticket number 34 contacts us).

I made £76 for charity. THANKS EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING MY DO-GOODER EFFORT.

Normal blogging will resume once I have a forwarding address.

WIN A PRIZE AT THE YARD SALE

Since the Yard Sale with Ms. Bubble and fellow bloggers came about I was brainstorming about my unique selling point. Somthing to entice the punters, as they'd say in the homeland. I figured I'd have a competition. Then, I remembered the tension and suspence of a raffle. The sheer emotion and sense "zomg will my yellow strip of tickets.. ah s*** it's a white strip".
So, I decided I would have a raffle.
Cue emailing the supersweet ladies from Supersweet. They have kindly donated an amazing Alexandre Herchcovitch Angle-Work Top (worth 105 pounds!!!).
"Comfortable and clever, it’s a double-layered top with rough-pleated hemline in sheer and georgette silk. A-symmetrical demi-sleeves and one-sided pocket for pocketing important little pieces. This is impact dressing with a twist!
"
Photobucket
Translation.. it's pretty and twisty.
Then, I thought a raffle isn't a raffle without a nice cause behind it. I am the first to admit I am sentimental shmuck and my heart breaks a bit when I read about the lack of aid going to Pakistan. It also cracks when my best friend tells me stories about an orphanage in Moldova she volunteers in every summer.
So, like the team in Captain Planet, by the power of Bloggers combined, I figured we could make a bit of money for some good causes. In a long winded manner, there will be a charity raffle going on at the Bloggers Yard Sale this Sunday the 22nd of August.
Photobucket
Tickets will be no more than a quid. There is an AMAZING prize from Supersweet. It will make you feel good about yourself. I will split the money 75/25, as Pakistan is something that is huge and needs our help. My friend's work is something that is close to my heart and I'm sure you wouldn't begrudge her 25p from a pound.

A HUGE THANKS TO SUPERSWEET AND SUSIE FOR ALLOWING ME TO DO THIS.

PLEASE ENTER THIS RAFFLE IF YOU COME SUNDAY.
peace, Fi xx

Look good in leather

I'm trying this whole thing where I become a bit less of a random collection of clothes and develop an actual classy look, maybe show off my cleavage less. Get a suit.

What a better way to start than getting a hot pair of leather short shorts.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Shorts by Pop for PPQ from Very.co.uk, tshirt by Borders&Frontiers Style Bubble tee bought at the UO sample sale

I won't lie, I had never explored the website Very.co.uk before. But, like my new attempt at trying to get some class, I gave it a go. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. It is easy to get around and has a lot to offer. I even found myself liking a range by Fearne Cotton (?). And fyi, it is not going to break the piggy bank. My new shorts go for £49 and are really good quality leather and look pretty awesome.

Photobucket
Thanks Very much for the lovely shorts! I do think I have a way to go with my new look though...

On a side note... I had just selected my shorts when I discovered a post all about leather shorts over on fellow Irish blogette The Licientate's spot.

On another side note... Like my Style Bubble tee? Why not check out the Style Bubble's Yard Sale next weekend?

Impromptu (new friend) date with Jazz

Gosh, I do love the Blogosphere. I discover Jazz Loves You More through Winnie a few months ago and have been following her work ever since. Girl got drawing skillz. Fast forward to The Creators Project party and a really sweet girl saying she recognised me from my red shoes and it was Jazz. New firm friends since.
While wandering around the east end, en route to Cafe 1001, I bumped into Jazz and have had a lovely impromptu friend date. Not only is she going to potentially draw me a teacup for operation-teacup-tatt, she is also uber sweet and interesting. Lovely person to spend a Monday afternoon. I also used it as an opportunity to ask her a few quickfire questions... Fun to play with new friends!

Date for your diaries...

If you are free Sunday August 22nd, me and some other blogger types are going to be hanging out in a yard, selling stuff, eating and generally being nice people.
Photobucket
The brains behind this operation goes by the name of Susie, she is rather awesome. Even more so awesome for asking me, (ta Susie). Read more about it here. Be sure to check out the other awesome bloggers selling their wares too!

Minor detail, my wee London wardrobe isn't exactly bustin' at the seams, but there are some good bits. If I was back in fair Cork, my dad would have a field day if I cleared out my room, as it is a bit stuffed. Fret not though, in spite of not having up with my "unique selling point" as of yet, there are ideas formulating. If all else fails, I will definitely be able to have a natter with you, maybe show you some nice things and have a bit of a giggle.

On a side note...
Photobucket
I don't think it's going to be a like this kinda yard sale though... Whatever floats your boat, but I can't see us having a Cobrasnake-esque sale.

See you soon and be sure to say hello!

The tale of Fiona and Beardy; Part deux

Eh, remember this love story? Well, me and my beardy boyfriend are BACK. So, other lady blogger friends, please remember me and The Man have HISTORY.
Enjoy the next part in our love story...

This is the man. The man and his girlfriend Fiona are planning their autumn/winter seasonal trip to the woods to stay in a wood cabin. She will bring her cape.
Photobucket

When they get to the cabin, Fiona realises she has no jumpers and The Man is not willing to share. He tells her to get some of her own.
Photobucket
Fiona is not happy and threatens to dump The Man.
To make up for this, The Man plans a romantic picnic amongst the trees, as he knows that Fiona loves trees.
Photobucket
Photobucket

After, the picnic, The Man realises that Fiona is the well-dressed woman of his dreams. He decides to take their relationship the the next level.
Photobucket

He invites Fiona to go the Annual Catch-an-Octopus-with-your-bare-hands competition. He wins and Fiona dresses well.
Photobucket
The Man and Fiona live happily through the next season, dressed in FCUK clothes.
The end.

All clothes from French Connection and all pictures taken from my tagged facebook photos.

Heidi hair and cage skirt for Daydreamer Zine..

Good night everyone. Or good morning. It's 2:25 am here in K Town, and lots has been going on the past couple of days, weeks, months. Apologies for my absence. I do miss you. And I do read ya'lls posts, I promise!

So for quick catching up, here's what happened so far.
I sat my finals exams, I passed, I graduated. I got my little piece of paper after 6 years of uni. I travelled around Europe.. London, Amsterdam, Italy, Belgium. Then came back to Kuwait for a summer of frozen yogurt addiction. No seriously, I had two huge ones today.

Here's the quickie.

Daydreamer Zine is an online magazine filled with beautiful articles and lots of pretty pictures. It's based in Dublin, and just launched today. I was lucky to be interviewed by Arsheen from Fashion Filosofy (who's also the head of the magazine) for the magazine. Be sure to watch the short Daydreamer film, and to max the volume to listen to the whimsical music played in the background.

CLICK **HERE** to flip through the lovely magazine and check out the interview.

And here are some other shots of the outfit I created for the interview..
(Angie! FINALLY YOU CAN SEE THE CAGE SKIRT ON ME! This is long overdue!)

'cause I'm bluffin' with my puffin

Oh Peter Jensen, you are so lovely.
Last weekend, pre-Field Day antics post-Holloway Road adventures, I went to the Peter Jensen sample sale out in Dalston. Oh boy, oh boy. Kitsch rabbit prints and moonface tshirts. Just what a girl needs. I bumped into Style Salvage Steve and Susie Bubble also having a look at the goodies.

Needless to say, I did not leave empty handed. I'm not a very "clean lines classic cuts" dresser, so I enjoy the use of bright colour and Peter Jensen's tongue-in-cheek prints. I did get one of the token rabbit print sheer dresses, but today I'm wearing my black long sleeve tshirt dress with a PUFFIN on it. It is not everyday you find puffin print. Yes, there is lots of sparrow print after the MiuMiu craze. But puffin is something else.
Photobucket
A bit of information on the puffin... An unmistakable bird with its black back and white underparts, and distinctive black head with large pale cheeks and a tall, flattened, brightly-coloured bill. Its comical appearance is heightened by its red and black eye-markings and bright orange legs. Used as a symbol for books and other items, this clown among seabirds is one of the world's favourite birds.
Taken from here
Photobucket
I feel like singing Lady Gaga Pokerface in this, "'cause I'm bluffin', with my puffin".
What do you think of my "clown among seabirds" look?

Ring my (sleigh)bell

I don't know if you noticed a trend, but I really like the style of women in music.
New girl crush is on Alexis from *buzz band* Sleigh Bells. I had an awesome time dancing and getting sweaty in the Old Blue Last last night to their banging choons.
I love almost everything about Alexis. She used to be an elementary school teacher and in a girl band. She has sleeves. She is a normal size. She dances like a loon on loon tablets. She wears pop colours.
Sounds like my kinda girl.

Operation steal her identity will entail new clothes, getting my bangs back, starting a noisy band and some more tatts. Simple.
