Dead Creepers

I am slowly coming around to the idea of creeper shoes. I think I could ease myself into wearing them by getting these Red or Dead suede and leopard print Susie creeps.

Photobucket

Seriously contemplating them. I could channel my inner creep while wearing them and do this dance my friends and I did at university, which had a soundtrack that sounded something like "hasathecreephasathecreep" on repeat.

Oh how I adore Red or Dead shoes. I like that these ones are a less creepy creeper (if that makes sense) to the ones with the platforms and all the plaid. They could definitely be worn with my very leather shorts and some sort of tshirt tucked in, with a large amount of eyeliner.

Seen at the wonderful Schuh Press day, which was held in the amazing location that is the Future Gallery. Thank you oh so lovely Dom!

Another Coco

There must be some sort of lucky aura around people called "Coco". Obviously the Coco Chanel name thing came along after a while, but she still did pretty well for herself from it. Then there is Coco Sumner, I blame Coco, Coco Pops.
So Coco Fennell should be no exception.
Daughter of a jewellery designer and Shoreditch dweller, this young designer is someone to keep tabs on. It's clear from her lovely pieces in her online shop that she is of the East London fashpack; lots of redbrick walls, girlish dress paired with slightly bohemian accessories. It isn't exactly ground breaking designs, but they work. Girls like me will never tire of a floral print dress with a skater skirt or a velvet dress. They are wearable, but the simply styling and no frills photography makes them for me.

My favourite pieces definitely are the black cut-out maxi and gold shoulder spikes. Too much to pair them together?

Me and my new coat

Don't you love coming home after a pretty crummy week and finding a nice present addressed to Fiona "Save Our Shoes"? Well, maybe if it was addressed to you..
My coat arrived. We talked about this before.
Photobucket
Isn't she lovely? I am really pleased with the quality too, it was much cosier than I expected it to be. It goes with everything and is super cute.

Yes Mushroom, you look terrific

If there is one thing I love about London, it is pop-up shops. Just last week, there was a terrific vintage shop popping up in Shoreditch. Yes Brian, you look terrific took residency in the basement of Maiden (one of my favourite gift/generally awesome shops in London) on Shoreditch High St. This roaming vintage shop is the brainchild of the gorgeous pair, Anna and Carly, who handpick their wares and host fantastic jumble sales and random events alike. Check it! I highly recommend everything they do, even what they have for breakfast.

Last Sunday, I spent my afternoon in the pop-up with Charlie, where we ate Albion gingerbread people (no gender discrimination here with our cookies) and watched fragments of "The Virgin Suicides" in the shop. My good friend Sarah was screening the film on the wall of the shop while Sunday shoppers had a look around.
I did not leave empty handed.

This top makes me think of Swiss milk maids, with braids and buckets. The shape is not exactly ideal for a lady, like yours truly, who has junk in her trunk. The top billows and has a rather hefty panel right above the bust.
Photobucket

BUT IT SAYS MUSHROOMS IN FRENCH ON IT. I had to have it and make it work. So I tucked into a skimpy skirt.

I feel obliged to translate all my food items into French when I wear this top.
Merci beaucoup mon chou! J'aime bien "Oui Brian, tu regardes terrific".
Bisous!

My Wedding Hat

If you haven't heard, Will and Katie are getting hitched.

So, the royal nuptials is going to have lots events and parties in the lead-up to the actual day. And at fancy events, one wears a hat. Obviously, I have started planning my hat to go with my outfit (Kazza asked me to be her maid of honour but I declined as I would probably have tried to make Harry marry me at the same time).

I'm *thinking* of wearing one of the hats made especially for New Era's 90th birthday...

I stumbled across a room full of exceptionally cool people and hats one hungover Brick Lane Sunday. New Era invited bright young things, who design, to create special hats for their anniversary.

Firstly, the engagement party..
Engagements are a reason to celebrate, so your hat should reflect this by being bright and colourful. It is also a time for personal (and wedding list growth). This is why your hat needs to have a tree on top.

Next event, the wedding down in Westminster..
Less. Is. More.

Finally, for the post-Wedding breakfast..
I figure I will be sporting a mega champagne-induced hangover, so if I wear a hat that has a face on it, it may distract them from the mess that will be mine.

I know what you are thinking. Me and my hats will be hogging all of Kazza's limelight. Fret not my pet. This is the icing on the cake. Think froufrou gown with tulle and cupcake's embedded into the dress, topped off with a cupcake hat.

(I have lost the name of this artist, so if anyone else saw this exhibition and knows, please let me know).

Just wait until I am on the front page of "Hello" for this.

On a side note, all the hats were amazing and it was a very impressive collection. It is such a brilliant way to celebrate 90 years of craftsmanship by showcasing young artists' crafts.

After the wall came down..

My dear friend Sarah recently came up with a really great description for my current style. She describes it as "a German art and politics student just before the Berlin wall came down" (or something similar). It is suffice to say that I have been wearing a combination of 80s jackets, hauling around a satchel and talking nonsense about some sort of cause I'm involved with.

This outfit was a slightly different, not so much power-dressing but sticking with the same vein. I layered a lot and wore a skirt that would not have been out of place in Goodbye Lenin and other Deutsh films my sister introduces me too.
Photobucket
My face (Stylist's own); Gold lace crop top (New Look); Clip things (found item) like a scavenger somewhere

Studded belt (removed from an old River Island dress); Floral print button-up skirt (£2 from Petticoat Lane); Arm (Stylist's own)

Boots that were made for stomping (on sale somewhere in Cork about a year and half ago)

Are you wearing anything that is not the typical trend?
Peace, fi x

PS I realised I had curbed my outfit/general posting of late. It has been as a result of a combination of things that I won't bore you with, but I am going to try get back into the swing of things/knock down the wall.

Nobody puts baby (alpaca) in the corner

Don't you love rummaging in a charity shop and finding something nice, like a nice blue scarf. Then, you look at the price and it says £1.50 and you say to yourself "Yes, this means I can also get milk and biscuits in the corner shop with my fiver". Finally, you look at the label and it says "100% Baby Alpaca". When it says 100%, you know you are on to a good thing. (You know how I feel about percentages).
Photobucket

So, yeah, this baby is keeping me warm and will not be left in a corner.

David Shrigley and Pringle

So this came out months ago apparently. Witty illustrator artist David Shrigley was commissioned by ultra-twee prim and proper Pringle to make a video for them.

It has made me chuckle. A lot.
It gets better though. David has now made an argyle cardigan for Pringle. He called it "Annoying", as the tag sticks up and the print is on the verge of eye-sore.
Photobucket

I'd still wear it though.

Jazzy coats

Much as I love my "1970s German social worker" or "Maggie Thatcher en route to Parliament mid-80s" long blue coat, it isn't doing much for keeping me warm.
Photobucket

I'm on a quest for a warm winter coat. This is something we all end up going through every winter and by the time you find the perfect coat, the daffodils are budding and your wool coat goes into storage. In the meanwhile, as I look for something with a very high wool content, I am excited about a present coming in the post. The graceful beauty Jazzabelle kindly selected me to select something from the wide selection of Tesco clothing range. I picked a sweet coat, which has a hood, toggles and a nipped in waist.

Photobucket
F+F for Tesco coat can be found here on this link

It may not be as warm as something made of pure wool, but it definitely can be layered with some knit jumpers and scarves. It will also be perfect in Spring, when I finally buy a winter coat that is too warm and will need something to tide me buy during April showers.

Thank you Jazz!

Ugly bands

You don't have to be hot to get all the ladies when you are musical.

Photobucket

My new favourite tshirt slogan.. from Stolen Girlfriends Club

This is why I love Stolen Girlfriends Club collection (as seen at the Robinson Pfeffer S/S 2011 press day). Of course, there is a lot more coming from them as well, but I felt this slogan deserved it's own spotlight.

A great example of this could be lead singer of iconic pop band from the 90s; Brian from Backstreet Boys. Not the best one on your Smash Hits poster but when he sings, butter melts.

Peace, Fi
PS I am having difficulties embedding a BSB video, so instead click on the link!

Thank goodness..

For Movember. The thought of well-groomed moustaches in aid of charity makes things a little bit better.
I can't grow a moustache. I can wear jewellery though. Check this tash-tastic necklace by Digby and Iona for Madewell.

Photobucket
It may not have the same effect as a handlebar moustache but I could put it under my nose for some hilarious photo ops for my facebook profiler. You know how it is.

Peace, fi x

PS I recently have become a team member for this thing called The Notewell. We are having an event tomorrow night in East London (check it here). I would love it if you could come.
