Weight a minute

Not so secret fact: I really wish I was part American. I say "y'all", I tend to be consistently chirpy, I measure things in "cups".
Photobucket
Thank you dear Rachel for this life saving piece of kitchen ware.
Measuring clothes in cups is not such a feasible option. I went to one of those pay by weight vintage places in Copenhagen (address and info will be added here asap) and tried to convert what I bought in to cups.

I also picked up this little white blouse. It makes me feel like a high school teen who likes her shirts see through.

Lesson learned. Clothes can not be converted to cups (unless it is a bra).

New friendsss

Back in February, I won a polaroid camera and some film from awesome Hiven. I finally got a chance to play with it over the weekend.

Hej Peter

My love of Peter Jensen grows and grows.  Knits, red and powder blue, simple styling and smoky eyes:  I am all over this.

Make sure I don't end up lost like this model hussy.
(Why did she end up lost in a drinks factory anyway, silly model). Recommendations for places to shop/eat/see in Copenhagen would be appreciated.  Drop us an email or something.

New Flux

There are daffodils now.  So I gave our header a spring clean.
Even though this video is for Lu Flux A/W 2011, I couldn't help but think of fresher seasons.

Sea And Be Seen: Lu Flux Autumn/Winter Collection 2011 from Neil O'Driscoll on Vimeo.

I am going to get real now though.  Along with a lot of people on the internet, I am feeling pretty helpless about how to help Japan after the huge natural disaster struck last week.  Spring is a long way away for the people who have been left homeless and lost.
This weekend there are two great fund-raising events in London that you can think about going to.

  • Katie of London Plinth has organised a Bloggers Silent Auction.  Click here for more information.
  • Maiden on Shoreditch High St will be having a Cakes for Japan cake sale in store this Friday.  Details here.
Of course as well, you can always not leave your house and donate to the Red Cross.

Save on electricity, use natural Light

You guys know that I love Aussie shampoo right?  We have the best of times.  Like when I went to Lovebox and told lots of people they had great hair? Or that time when we went watching fireworks from the London Eye. Or when I get to see all the lovely tribe friends I have made?

I got the best post from them last week.  A balloon in a box. A balloon in a box.  This was a special moment.  Who needs a Jack-in-a-box when you can have a balloon-in-a-box? No one.

You can share a special Aussie moment by entering our community competition.  Basically, tell Aussie on twitter (@yummyhair) and us, if you want (@saveourshoes), how you would lighten your life.  All the competition details are over here!

Childish

I had a bad Friday. So I decided to dress up to amend my bad Friday feelings.
Mission accomplished. I figured the best way to cheer up was to wear things my 7 year old self would have been proud of. Clashing patterns and a sky blue skirt with shoes that were not exactly appropriate.

Floaty blouse (from River Island) as it has floral/bird print on it; Net curtain skirt (vintage) as I can remember hiding in curtains similar to this; leopard print bag (c/o Siren, it is the best), tights (from UO) they sparkle; shoes (H&M x Sonia Rykiel) which make me feel like a Spice Girl.
I wore this ensemble to the Birds Eye View Sounds & Silents, while hanging out with the gorgeous Katie from London Plinth. She also made me feel better. The evening was really great. Female composers made pieces of music to go with silent films. Pretty nifty.
Do you ever take inspiration from your childhood self? I do it a lot.

Wonderful Women

Photobucket
Ladies are really great.  Like super great.  Sometimes you think WOW, women do so much.
This weekend, there is a very exciting festival celebrating Women of the World, WOW festival in Southbank.  There will be conferences, free music, concerts from the likes of Annie Lennox (style icon and women icon mashed into one) and more.  It is the first time this festival is being organised, but it looks like something that is set to be a regular thing.
I am most excited about the Birds Eye View Sounds and Silents, which is screenings of silent films with new music made by talented folks like Micachu and Imogen Heap.
Something different to do with your weekend, instead of talking about how hungover you are, remember how great it is being a woman and celebrate it.

Thank you beautiful Domino for the heads-up.

PS Boys can come too, they won't say no to boys who think girls are great.

Leaving the party early.

This weekend has been brought to you by red lips, orange tights, fringing and the letter "Q".
"Q" for Quiet.

Dress from Urban Outfitters sample sale, top (worn underneath) is OLD and cost me a few pence in Cork, orange tights from New Look
Don't you hate when you leave the party early? Especially when your outfit is perfect to throw shapes in.  It is not so appropriate for climbing over walls and going on see-saws.
Plus, I wore this Friday night and the next day Isabel Marant had fringing in her A/W 2011 collection. I am so ahead of the trendz.  I'll save it for the next party.

Granny goes to Hollywood

Tonight, in The Book Club, there is a new exhibition after starting, which is called "Bingo and Social Club". Basically, it is a photography exhibition by Michael Hess capturing scenes in Bingo Halls across the UK. All the images for the exhibition are taken from Michael's book and can be seen adorning the walls of The Book Club. The DJ tonight played classic crooner tunes and there were used bingo cards everywhere. If everyone wasn't dressed so slick, you could almost mistake it for a bingo hall.
Photobucket
In my head, Bingo chic is a very specific look. Sequins, smokey eyes, smoke rings and a glass of sherry.
Photobucket
This is my serious BINGO face
Photobucket
I think this gem cleared my bingo card. €1 from a charity shop in Dublin. Leather Shorts c/o Very
If you are in East London and want to have a nice bevvy and enjoy some nice pictures, I would definitely recommend swinging by this.

PS SUGGESTION! If you do feel like coming, why not come Monday? This will be on. Art and music, one of the best combinations.
