Royal Wedding tea party

First of all, congratulations to William & Kate, as they are obviously reading this post.

Photobucket

Second of all, I loved her wedding gown. It was so elegant, so classic. One you'd look at in 40 years and still think it's beautiful. Well done Sarah Burton!

In celebration of the beautiful royal wedding, my friend Noor hosted a lovely royal wedding watching tea party in her humble home. We were really excited about it, seeing as this is a day that will be recorded in history. Also, we are in Kuwait.. No royal wedding day off, no street parties, no in shop/cafe events. We collaborated on some corny party activities, and invited a few friends over.

Corny royal events:

1- Prince William mask making. We figured, what do we need Kate for? All of us girls just want a piece of the handsome PILF.

Photobucket
dress from Jovonna London, coat from Arrogant Cat, Vintage hat, F-Troupe shoes

2- William & Catherine colouring activity, like the good ol' colouring book days. Some of us stuck to the conservative nice colouring approach, while others made the couple into pop art and Austin Power-esque masterpieces.

Photobucket

3- Union Jack manicures. Loyalty to our lovely British friends is fierce.

Photobucket

4- Fancy hats and fancy shoes. Some tweeps made me laugh by tweeting: "Royal wedding day happened to coincide with Silly British hats day."

Photobucket

5- Royal wedding photo shoot. And by photo shoot, I mean bringing my DSLR over and taking ultimately ridiculous photos with teapots, flowers, the William mask, etc.

Photobucket

6- Royal wedding crossword puzzle. I was more interested in colouring the couple in! I did not complete this, will you?

Photobucket

7- Royal wedding sick bags. These are for William's dream ex-girlfriends, weak hearted, and those overwhelmed by the big fuss.

Photobucket

A tea party is obviously never complete with a crazy selection of teas, juices, pastries, biscuits, cakes, and sandwiches.

Maybe Prince Harry will see this marry me? Let's hope so.

How did you celebrate? What did you think of the wedding?

Royal Wedding: Chair and dog spotting

Seriously, I have been sucked in.
I got a new friend called Oscar to chill with while I camp in a corner waiting for the Big Day. Not sure yet if I will heckle or shout sweet nothings to Catheriam.
Photobucket
Wearing Boden cardigan, FCUK denim dress, Petticoat Lane Market skirt, Clogs.
Alice and I found a regal chair to sit in. I may wait in front of a clothing bin for herself to come past us.

PPS I won't actually camp out with a dog in a chair by a bin. I have work Friday. So go have fun for me.

Royal Wedding: Regal Distaste

Technically, I shouldn't be letting myself get sucked into all this Royal Wedding Malarchy.  Irish and all that.  There is plenty of Anti-Wedding antics happening this weekend as well, should I decide to get all indie-anarchist (this is very unlikely, I just think some of these things sound like fun).
  • Go to the Land Of Kings Festival in Dalston.  No relation to the future King, this festival got there first.  You can dance away your sorrows to losing Will until you get tinnitus.
  • The East End Film Festival will be on.  Great short films and long films.  I don't know if there will be popcorn though.
  • Try and sell an eyeball and go see Best Coast at Koko.
  • Party with Run Riot in Camden.  One can drink AND get a hair cut.  It could be the best slash worst decision of your life.
  • The Miro exhibition has started in the Tate.  Smuggle in some Sangria and pretend you are away for the weekend in Spain.
  • Offer to go to work.  Not so fun suggestion.
  • Get a massive pair of sunglasses.  You won't be able to avoid all the bunting otherwise. Photobucket Sunglasses from Lazy Oaf

Royal Wedding: Regal Embrace

There is no escaping the hype machine that is the royal wedding. You can either embrace it and get down with Catheriam (Catherine + William, like they did for Jedward) or take part in some anti-party antics. If I could, I would do both. There are some really great options. I'm giving the royal wedding in this post. Let's get regal.

  • Get your party bits at Maiden on Shoreditch High Street. They have a whole Royal Wedding section. There will be fancy royal cakes and fantastic prints. Photobucket       Picture from the Maiden blog.
  • Wake up early and stay in Shoreditch. Party like there is no hipster tomorrow at the Leonard Street Royal Wedding Party with The Book Club. Or go down the road to The Queen of Hoxton and lounge about with a priest on their roof at their Royal Wedding Crashers party.
  • Do some royal home-ware shopping at the Something Blue pop-up shop in Clerkenwell. It celebrates British Design and they have up-cycled furniture, so you can buy a chair and then take it to a street party.
  • Southbank is all dollied up and in love for the wedding and The Festival of Britain.  One of my favourite places to faff.
  • Wear a fancy frock and have afternoon tea in Drink Shop Do, possibly the cutest place for tea in Kings Cross.
  • There is nothing more romantic than a Victoria and Albert late. It gets even more lovey dovey with their "I do" themed late night opening. I would go West for this.
  • Wear these to the party... Photobucket                  Blue leather dress from Rokit, necklace from Tatty Devine (which you can apparently win if you get your picture taken at their Covent Garden store this weekend), shoes by KTZ.

House Keeping

Happy Easter!
Photobucket
Being a dumb bunny in the garden. Wearing a £2 Dalston market top, skirt c/o Rokit, juju jelly shoes, necklace c/o EssBeeVee, belt demi-stolen from my house-mate, sunglasses from somewhere.
Quick things I would like to share.
The East London Craft Guerilla are looking for new crafty friends. They are launching their Craft Guerilla New Designer competition. Check it!
TheSite.org are giving away the chance to win an iPad if you make something from a fiver. Find out more here. Some poor chap is getting something in the post from me.

Cassette Frame.  It's like a bad recording.

On May 4th, The Note Well is having a Speed Listening Gone Rogue event in Whitechapel. You should go.
More to come. There is some really great things happening over the next few weeks in London town. Hot damn, I am excited.

My mate, Gogo Philip

Photobucket
This is my new friend Gogo Philip. Isn't he handsome? He is great for the chats as well.
Photobucket
He is no flash in a pan type. Don't be fooled by his vintage style, he won't be a huge financial drain like some guys can be.
Photobucket
Gogo is totally here to stay. Like an anchor in the sea.
Photobucket
WOAH! No need for the attitude. I was just saying how great he is. I think you are great too!
Photobucket
Yes, peace and love is what we want over here.
Photobucket
OK. Cool. See you later.
Gogo Philip jewellery is available in a rather nice concession opposite Uniqlo in Westfield now, along with Topshop and online. I hung out there last week. It was a blast. Thank you Amy and Andrew.

OK?

IOU-nique

As a veggie, one of my main reasons for not eating meat is the fact I can't (economically) source good, happy meat.  This is equally difficult in terms of clothing.  With mass production and fast fashion everywhere, it is far more difficult to be unique, unless you are willing to wear a dress made of meat (organic, of course).
Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could source where your clothes came from, right down to the fabric?

The IOU Project is a group where they are aiming to source the clothing, right down to the fabric.  Each item is in fact unique.   They like the planet.  This is something we should pay attention to.

Through the Queen's Roof

OMG, it's summer. (Sort of).
Queen of Hoxton in East London recently relaunched their rooftop escape with a super party.  There were super drinks and super food (if you are veggie, like yours truly, they had barbequed halloumi).  The rooftop terrace has a great view of the City and is a wonderful sun spot.  Ample opportunity to get a bit tipsy and come up with hypothetical situations for the poor sods working across the road in a glasshouse office.  Not that I would do that sort of thing.

Wellies

Havaianas make me think of beach. Now they do wellies, which you can get in Selfridges. Festival essential sorted. I was kindly invited to the launch for Havainas Wellies last week. Due to leaving my memory card in my laptop a technical error, I couldn't take any snaps, bar from a token phone picture.
Photobucket
So, instead, I will tell you how why it was such a fun night through the power of celebrities.

You can now get Havaianas Wellies from Selfridges. Hot.
Please note, the celebrities did not say this. These words came from my imagination. Pictures are from the Havaianas. This post is a sponsored post.

Rokit rock

Rokit reminds of being twelve and reading Bliss magazine, where there was always a thirteen year old girl wearing a tulle skirt from "Rokit vintage". My mind was blown. I wanted a tulle skirt so bad. I wanted to be one of those cool girls hanging out wearing vintage clothes in London. Photobucket Rokit make dreams come true. They hosted a blogger party where you could play dress-up, eat cake and dance. It was a joy to hang out in their warehouse of wonder.
Photobucket
The lovely Imogen showed me and few other bloggers where their internet shopping magic happened. Rokit is not only about vintage; Rokit Designers Guild helps out new designers. A lot of the product in this is environmentally friend, including their in-house Rokit Recycled. Recycling clothing is something we need to do more of. At the party, I got my hair styled into Victory Rolls by Belinda who runs The Painted Lady in Shoreditch and who wrote Style Me Vintage. She makes it look so easy. The Vintage Patisserie provided jasmine tea and prosecco drinks and cakes. The soundtrack to the afternoon was provided by Munroe Bergdorf, Three Little Maids, Drag Your Heels and Echoes.

It was basically the best Sunday afternoon ever.
